Kerryn Warren (PhD)

Meet the always-smiling, ever-helpful Kerryn. 

Having lectured and tutored students for over 10 years in subjects ranging from biology (a natural science) to archaeological heritage (a social science), Kerryn brings a unique blend of skills and perspectives to Grad Coach.

She’s a skilled researcher, has published in multiple peer-reviewed journals, and she’s even authored textbook chapters. Simply put, she knows what markers want.

Experience

Kerryn worked as a data scientist at the South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON), updating and data-manipulating online geographic services. She then went on to undertake her postdoctoral research at the University of Cape Town, where she was involved in evolution education in South African schools, and evolutionary outreach among the broader public. Kerryn’s work has been published in international peer-reviewed journals and presented at international  conferences, and she has won several science communication competitions. Over the last 10 years, Kerryn has also lectured and tutored hundreds of students in a wide variety of subjects.

Simply put, Kerryn’s passion for education and science communication, combined with strong research skills make her a dynamic, high-impact coach.

Qualifications

Kerryn completed her BSc in Human Biology and Archaeology at the University of Cape Town. She then went on to complete her MSc in Archeology and, in 2017, her PhD in Archaeology and Human Evolution (awarded without corrections).

Kerryn’s background blends natural science and social science, making her a dynamic member of the Grad Coach team – someone who can appreciate both the “hard” and “soft” aspects of any research topic.
