Meet Dr Brandon Simmons (PhD)
With a unique combination of academic depth and real-world consulting experience, Brandon brings an unmatched level of expertise to his role as a research coach. Having personally supported over 1,500 students, he understands the intellectual and emotional demands of the dissertation journey. Brandon was also the first in his family to go to college, and so is intimately aware of the struggles facing first-time academics.

Experience
Brandon brings 20+ years of experience in education, research coaching, and consulting. As Academic Coach at Northcentral University, he supported over 1,300 doctoral students through their research methods and statistics courses. He has served as Dissertation Chair and Committee Member at institutions like Walden, Capella, and Grand Canyon University, guiding hundreds of students from proposal to final defense.
Beyond academia, Brandon leads Dr-BS Analytics and Consulting, where he partners with universities and law schools to deliver customized instructional design and research solutions. His rare combination of practical insight and academic rigor ensures students feel supported and seen every step of the way.
Qualifications
Brandon holds an impressive 10 postgraduate degrees, including a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction and an EdD in Educational Leadership. He also holds master’s degrees in law, business, health education, and instructional technology, along with a Graduate Certificate in Distance Learning.
His training spans advanced statistical analysis, mixed methods design, data visualization, educational law, and instructional design. In addition, he is certified in Quality Matters course review and has served on national quality boards including the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Examiner Panel. This broad and deep foundation allows him to support students across disciplines with precision and empathy.
