What is it?

The Topic Kickstarter is the perfect starting point if you have a rough idea of what research areas interest you, but haven’t identified any specific research gaps, problems or topic ideas.

In short, we take your vague interest area, work our magic and then come back to you with a clear set of potential research paths, based on literature-backed, current research gaps.

What it includes

The Topic Kickstarter includes the following core deliverables:

  1. A detailed Research Gap Report, which explains the different types of research gaps and how these link to opportunities within your area of interest
  2. PDF copies of all literature/journal articles that are referred to in the Research Gap Report
  3. A reference data file (BIB format) which you can import directly into your reference manager (e.g., Mendeley or Zotero)
  4. One hour of live coaching to address any questions you may have and help you move your topic ideation forward

Is this the right fit for me?

If you are at the start of your research journey and have not yet identified any research gaps or potential topics, this is the perfect starting point.

If you have already identified some research gaps and potential topic options, and need help refining and/or evaluating those, we can still help, but on a coaching basis. Feel free to book a free initial consultation to discuss where you’re at and how we can help.

Is the Research Gap Report AI-generated?

No.

We manually search for and review current literature in relation to your research area of interest. Based on this, we write up the Research Gap Report. This is a human-driven process, handled by one of our PhD-qualified coaches. 

Can you just tell me what topic to choose?

No.

We provide you with a detailed report that identifies some potential research gaps, based on the current literature. These gaps provide a foundation from which you can develop a suitable research topic.

We will provide as much direction and guidance as we can, but it’s important to understand that you need to be involved in the topic development process. It is your project, after all. 

How much does it cost?

The Topic Kickstarter requires 5 billable hours. The exact cost of these hours will depend on which package you opt for. You can view the package options here. 

I already have some topic ideas. Can you help me?

If you have already identified some research gaps and potential topic options, but need help refining and/or evaluating those, we can help on a coaching basis (i.e., the Topic Kickstarter is not necessary).
